Year 9 trip to National Holocaust Museum

On Wednesday, fifty Year 9 pupils had the opportunity to visit the National Holocaust Museum in Newark.

Pupils took part in a workshop about Jewish life and the rise of Nazi ideology and visited an exhibition and gardens commemorating the Holocaust. The highlight of the day was the opportunity to listen to the story of survivor, Mala Tribich MBE, talking pupils through her life as a Jewish girl living in Poland, to being liberated by British soldiers from Bergen-Belsen.

This trip enhanced pupils understanding of the Holocaust, bringing to life the RE curriculum in which pupils have spent the last term considering ‘How the Holocaust should be commemorated’.
