Pupil Premium & Catchup Premium

Pupil Premium

The school receives additional funding in the form of Pupil Premium for children entitled to free school meals in the last 6 years, children in care and children of parents in the armed forces.

From September 2014, pupils recently adopted from care under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and children who have left care under a Special Guardianship or Residence Order will also be eligible for additional funding.

The amount of funding available, the school’s aims in spending the funding, policy and procedures for ensuring these aims are met and reporting measures are all provided in this Pupil Premium Policy.

Common barriers for FSM children can be less support at home, weak language and communication skills, lack of confidence, more frequent behaviour difficulties, and attendance and punctuality issues. There may also be complex family situations that prevent children from flourishing. The challenges are varied and there is no “one size fits all”. We review our Pupil Premium strategy annually.

Catch-up Premium

The DfE has made additional funds available for improving the attainment of our disadvantaged pupils, known as the Year 7 Catch-Up Premium. The funds are primarily aimed at improving Maths and English levels. An allocation is made for every pupil who has not achieved a Level 4 in reading and/or writing at the end of Key Stage 2 as per the October school census.

The report below summarises how the previous year’s funding was spent and how we intend to spend this year’s funding. Most importantly, it provides information on the outcomes of the spending and the improvements made amongst our pupils.
