The Ripley Normandy Experience Take 2!
On Wed 28th June, 38 Year 9 pupils and their 4 teachers left Ripley at 10pm for an overnight ferry and a 4-night visit to Chateau du Baffy in Normandy, following in the footsteps of their Year 8 group at the beginning of June.
The long journey was broken by a visit to a local swimming pool where pupils perfected their dives off the diving board, enjoyed water slides and a lazy river after a very long night on the coach.
The group loved their stay at Chateau du Baffy which included three course meals each night as well as a frogs legs and snails tasting (when in France!).
On a visit to a local farm, pupils tried fresh home-made goats cheese (after playing with lots of goats) as well as taking part in a French baking masterclass and learning how to make bread from scratch.
We took part in a commemorative service and laid a poppy wreath at the British War Memorial in Bayeux as well seeing the famous Bayeux tapestry.
There was lots of bargain hunting to be had at the market with some very interesting purchases in the 2 euro challenge alongside an abundance of lovely jewellery and dresses.
It was a long journey home on Sunday but that didn’t dampen the spirit of pupils who were positive, engaged and willing to speak French at every single opportunity. Miss Huddart, Mrs Henderson, Mrs Smith and Mr Webster couldn’t have been more proud of them!
Sadly the school device corrupted on return so we have limited photos but please enjoy what we have and no doubt your son/daughter will have lots more of their own to share!
