#HelloYellow brightens World Mental Health Day 2023
Ripley pupils, students and staff have enjoyed fundraising for World Mental Health Day 2023, today 10th October.
Today was a non-uniform day where everyone was encouraged to come in a splash of yellow to show support for @YoungMinds #Helloyellow campaign. This is particularly close to home as funds raised are all in memory of Thomas Gudgeon and Lucas Backhouse.
You did not disappoint! Parents/carers and pupils, thank you for all your support both financially and emotionally. We have had some cracking costumes, brilliant Sixth Form Bake Sale organised by the Senior Student team and some super sessions which all contribute towards House competitions. Our new ParentPay donation system has worked well but you can still donate cash if preferred by sending in to your child’s form tutor or if in Sixth Form, scanning the QR code on the Sixth Form posters for bakes.
Every Tuesday we have access to amazing wellbeing keyworker support in school via our Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead Laura Johnson (left) and the regular visitors into school :
Nicole Cobb (below) is our Professional RangeYouth Worker (Targeted Youth Support) from the Children and Family Well-being Service who runs the Fearless programme around understanding emotions and anxiety. She also runs a ‘Well-being drop in’ on Tuesday Lunchtime where pupils can come and meet new friends, do crafting activities and play games.
Barnardos team members (photo below) Mel Satterthwaite – Team Manager and Senior Practitioner and Shannon Collinge Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner also run their one-to-one sessions supporting pupils:
‘Ace’ group meetings are also held in the Lodge and school counsellors Liz Crawford and Emily Pemberton are based in Sixth Form all day.
#WorldMentalHealthDay2023 is a good day to show them our appreciation and we are loving the embracing of the look by all who participated! #HelloYellow
