Amazing Amara wins staggering medal haul

Year 11 Amara Atkinson recently won gold in the javelin, discus, hockey and 100m relay at the National Dwarf Games in Birmingham over the half-term as well as silver in the shot put, basketball and football.

We are absolutely delighted to hear about Amara’s success and that she will now go on to represent England at the World Dwarf Games in Germany this summer.

Amara, who has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, has been competing at the National Games since the age of three and has won dozens of medals at the event since then.

Currently sitting her GCSEs, Amara wants to take PE at A Level, then go on to become involved in sport with ambitions to be an interviewer or reporter. She is also hoping to compete in the World Dwarf Games in Australia in 2026 or 2027.

It goes without saying that we are incredibly proud of Amara and wish her all the best in Germany in the summer and her future ambitions!

Here she is with Ellie Simmonds, five-time Paralympic gold medal-winning swimmer, who is also a patron of the Dwarf Sports Association UK.
