Combined Cadet Force
The Combined Cadet Force (RAF) offers pupils in Years 9 to 13 the opportunity to develop confidence, leadership, resilience and teamwork through a unique programme of practical, adventurous and aviation-focused activities.
Following a structured, curriculum-led training programme, cadets progress through a range of experiences designed to build skills, character and responsibility. Activities include leadership training, fieldcraft, aviation studies, navigation, drill, first aid, STEM challenges, command tasks and adventurous training.
Cadets can also take part in exciting experiences that include flying and gliding opportunities, residential camps, shooting, national competitions and outdoor expeditions.
The RAF section provides students with the chance to develop valuable life skills while working towards recognised qualifications and leadership positions within the contingent. Through regular training and participation, cadets learn to work effectively as part of a team, rise to new challenges and become confident young leaders.
Advancement in rank within the CCF is based solely on merit and serves as a recognition of a cadet’s leadership potential, reliability and contribution to the contingent. Such achievements are widely recognised by university admissions teams as indicators of personal development and responsibility.
Whether students have an interest in aviation, adventure, leadership or simply want to try something new, the CCF RAF offers an inclusive and rewarding experience that complements their education and helps prepare them for future study, careers and life beyond school.
