Biology Edinburgh Trip

The December Biology residential trip to Edinburgh was an outstanding success, with 38 Ripley pupils enjoying a packed itinerary filled with science, history and culture. The adventure began at the National Museum of Scotland, where highlights included viewing Dolly the Sheep and the magnificent stuffed giraffe towering over the second floor.

After fuelling up with a traditional Scottish breakfast, pupils explored the city’s fascinating history. A visit to the Surgeons’ Hall Museums, established in 1505, offered chilling tales of body-snatchers and a hands-on experience learning how to suture a wound, all amidst thousands of intriguing medical specimens. The group also toured Edinburgh Castle, taking in breath-taking views of the city and the Scottish Crown Jewels.

Evenings were spent soaking up the festive atmosphere at Edinburgh’s Christmas markets and browsing the bustling shops along Princes Street. On the final day, students concluded their educational journey with a captivating visit to Dynamic Earth, a geology museum and planetarium.

It was a busy yet memorable trip, combining exceptional learning opportunities with unforgettable experiences for all involved.
