BAE AI Roadshow brings ‘Fluffy’ to life for Years 7 and 8

Mrs Barton, Mrs Duckworth and Mr May would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the recent BAE AI Roadshow visit a great success.

Years 7 and 8 were lucky enough to be joined by Sophie, Kat and Matt, representing BAE, The RAF and The Royal Navy. The show focused on the future of artificial intelligence and how it features in careers in engineering and STEM.

Their presentation was very engaging and our pupils really enjoyed getting involved both on and off stage! ‘Fluffy’ the AI dog was a particular highlight (Ripley needs one…watch this space!).

After meeting and interacting with ‘Fluffy’, Sophie, Kat and Matt demonstrated how our pupils could engage and interact with AI to write a song by selecting keywords, add music selecting genres/styles and create a music video from the data using Suno.com as a platform. It was totally mind blowing to see how fast the results were and even at this early stage, pupils could envisage what could be achieved.

The BAE team commented on how polite, well behaved and engaged our pupils were and they are very keen to visit again next year!

“What a fantastic presentation! It was lovely to see the pupils engaged and keen to participate in the activities. I am looking forward to hearing the Year 8 song again and seeing the video. Thank you so much for organising such an amazing roadshow today.”

Mrs Webster, Year 8 Progress Leader

“The pupils were so focussed, well behaved and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the games. I have spoken to a few of them at the end of the presentation who have taken lots from the STEM demonstrations today and seeing a live show made it very real for all our budding scientists and engineers!”

Mrs Slinger, Assistant Progress Leader, Year 7
