Technology pupils step up to innovation challenge
On Wednesday 29th March the Technology department hosted a Virtual TeenTech event. 52 pupils across Years 8 and 9 joined in the event for the whole morning engaging with a live online session run by the TeenTech foundation.
Pupils had the chance to ask leading technology employers questions and were supported through an innovation challenge, where they had to build their own solutions to a problem. The session was very lively and highly interactive.
The 10 pupils who engaged the most with the virtual event have been selected to attend the Teen Tech Festival for a full day at The University of Central Lancashire – UCLAN on Tuesday 16th May.
Miss Sandbach was delighted with the ideas generated from the sessions:
“Thank you so much for volunteering to be part of the Teen Tech event today. I was extremely proud of the way you all worked and the ideas you came up with as teams were incredible! Everyone will be receiving 5 house points for their work.”
The winning teams are as follows:
Team 11: Zurina C, Finley C, Orainn McM and Keaton N
Team 2: Micah L, Declan McK, Joel M, Scarlett M
The two students selected for their amazing effort and contribution to the event are:
Will Moss and Matilda Birchall.
These ten pupils will be attending the Teen Tech in person Event in May at UCLAN. Well done!
They will take part in exciting challenges and hands-on activities and network with employers who will give feedback on their project ideas. This is a day that changes minds – especially those who may never have previously considered a career in science or technology.
