Ripley Cadets qualify for RAST National Finals

Our Cadets started training in September for the Regional Air Squadron Trophy (RAST) which is the CCF(RAF) Regional competition. We fall into SCOTNINE (Scotland Northern Ireland and Northern England), which is one of the largest CCF(RAF) Regions.

Schools came together at Inskip Cadet Centre on Sunday 8 December to compete in Drill, Leadership, Space Knowledge, First Aid, Cyber and Air Rifle Shooting disciplines. The top 3 teams will then go on to Nationals.

Our cadets have been training every breaktime and every Monday after school as well as the occasional weekend. They are mostly self-sufficient in their training with the staff providing resources and support and the senior cadets leading the younger ones through the training. This is a huge testament to their skills and abilities. This year the team was led by CWO (Cadet Warrant Officer) Anna Feaks.

The team did extremely well placing highly in many individual categories and placing 3rd overall, which means that they will be competing at Nationals in March 2025, this will be the second time Ripley CCF has placed for Nationals. Great news Cadets, very well done and fingers crossed for March!

We can’t wait to see how they fair then. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to staff and volunteers for all their support.
