Parable of the Talents

Year 8 pupils have once again gone above and beyond, using their God‑given talents to make a real difference. Each pupil began with just £1 and was challenged to raise as much money as possible for charity.

This challenge is inspired by the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30), where Jesus teaches that God expects us to use and grow the gifts He has entrusted to us. The message is simple: our abilities are not meant to be hidden away or left unused. Instead, we are called to use them faithfully, confidently, and generously.

The parable reminds us that God gives everyone different skills and opportunities, and what matters most is how we choose to use them. Rather than acting out of fear or holding back, we are encouraged to be active, responsible stewards who put our gifts to good use.

The pupils’ chosen charity was The Olive Branch, a much‑loved local food bank founded in 2004 by volunteers from churches across the community. The organisation continues to make a profound difference to local families, and we are delighted to support their vital work.

This year, five pupils received the prestigious Platinum Award in recognition of their exceptional fundraising achievements. Cillian, Lydia, Max, Elliott and Joel all showed remarkable creativity, determination and generosity. Their efforts included swimming, walking, selling football squares, crocheting and homemade cake sales. Together, these five pupils contributed an impressive total of £1,383 to the final fundraising amount and presented the final cheque to The Olive Branch.

Thanks to the dedication and generosity of our pupils, the total raised for charity over the past four years has now reached an incredible £15,397.40. This achievement is a testament to their compassion, creativity, and willingness to use their God‑given talents for the good of others.

Year 8 have continued to demonstrate what can be accomplished when young people step forward with courage, kindness, and purpose.
