Ripley+ Awards 2026
The Ripley+ Award stands as a testament to the dedication, character, and leadership shown by pupils who commit themselves to growth beyond the classroom. Rooted in the history and faith of our school, the award echoes the tradition of our founders, who once presented gold medals to pupils who embodied the qualities of the “finest man and woman.” Today, the Ripley+ Award continues this legacy, recognising young people who strive to flourish academically, personally, and spiritually.
To qualify for the award, pupils must demonstrate sustained involvement in at least two additional leadership activities. This may include consistent contributions to a team or organisation, or taking a leading role in planning and delivering events over an extended period. Such commitment reflects not only responsibility but also a willingness to serve others—an essential aspect of leadership within our school community.
Our pupils engage in a rich variety of opportunities, from sport and music to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, chaplaincy, and charity initiatives. The Ripley+ Award acknowledges those who embrace these experiences wholeheartedly, developing resilience, confidence, and a sense of purpose along the way.
This year’s ceremony began with a relaxed gathering in the chapel, where award recipients and their families came together to celebrate their achievements. The atmosphere was warm and reflective, honouring both the effort and the personal growth of each young person. In total, nine Silver Awards and four Gold Awards were presented – each one representing months, and often years, of dedication.
Pupil Reflections
The voices of our pupils capture the true spirit of the Ripley+ Award:
- “I would say I’m not a born leader, but I feel that I have developed the skills and abilities to be able to become a leader.”
- “The key to a good leader is that they can understand and know the people they are working with.”
- “Ripley has helped me grow as a person, in confidence and self-esteem and much more.”
- “During my time at Ripley, I have become a leader. I have gained confidence and developed my leadership qualities. These qualities will stay with me for a lifetime and I plan to use them in all aspects of my life.”
- “I believe that good leadership means service, to the community and to God.”
These reflections highlight the depth of learning that takes place beyond timetabled lessons. They reveal young people who understand that leadership is not about authority, but about empathy, service, and the courage to grow.
