Y9 Options and Pastoral Evening
Year 9 parents are warmly invited to attend our Year 9 Options Evening. This is an opportunity for you and your child to think about subject choices at Key Stage 4.
Up to the end of Year 9, pupils have had very little choice about what subjects they study. As they prepare to embark on Key Stage 4 they have some important decisions to make. Pupils are required to study most subjects to GCSE level, but they are able to make some choices.
To assist you in making these choices we are holding our Options Evening on Thursday 23rd February from 6pm. There will be two presentations in the Phythian lecture theatre (Sixth Form Centre) which will go over the options process, what choices are available and how to complete the options form.
The first presentation is for registration groups 9Brown, 9Exton, 9Gordon, 9Henderson and 9Huddart/Turley at 6pm.
The second presentation is for registration groups 9Maddox, 9MontgomeryA, 9Richardson/Wilson, 9Scott and 9Western at 7pm.
Whilst the main presentations are happening in the Phythian lecture theatre, subject staff will be making presentations in other sixth form rooms about their subject areas. The option subjects making presentations include Animal Care, Art, Business, Computer Science, Design & Technology, Drama, Food Preparation & Nutrition, French, Geography, History, IT, Music, Physical Education (GCSE) and Spanish.
You should consider carefully with your child which presentations you wish to listen to in advance of the evening. A programme listing the evening’s arrangements will be available on arrival.
