This first half term of the 2020-21 academic year has certainly been one like no other.
We have had moments of joy, happiness, anguish and frustration but all Ripley pupils, their families and staff rose to the challenges of COVID-19, new school life, new systems and processes, friends and teachers, finding ways to cope and moving ahead in the best possible way.
We have already shared posts on social media since the start of term and thought you may like to see just a few of the day-to-day activities here – #happysmilingfaces says it all.
Year 9 Mandarin Club members have been learning about the ancient art of Shadow Puppetry this week – some beautiful puppets brought in by Mrs Li for the group to get to grips with. Good work Y9!
Meanwhile over in Design Technology, Mrs Bell and team have seen some stunning upcycling summer projects from Year 10 (well done Bayley – a perfect coffee table from bike parts!) together with some excellent Year 8 Clock design sheets…
KS3 PE – Year 7 and 8 pupils have enjoyed a mix of ‘traditional’ and ‘Sportshall’ athletics, where they have learnt new skills, competed against each other and made a valuable contribution to their team. Well done to the KS3 pupils who have risen to the challenge and enjoyed a variety of athletics activities in their PE lessons this half term.
KS4 PE pupils have worked hard and enjoyed developing different components of fitness in their Advanced Movement Skills PE lessons. Well done to all year groups. Stunning autumn colours have provided a perfect backdrop for KS4 PE lessons this half term and its been great to be outdoors for their lessons.
