Students Hand Over Syria Petition to Downing Street

This week, three of our Sixth Form students, accompanied by local MP David Morris,  presented a petition to 10 Downing Street. The petition, which calls for civilians to be protected from hostile forces in Syria, was also presented to the House of Commons.

The petition reads: "The petition signed by residents of Heysham, Morecambe and surrounding areas declares that civilians should be protected from hostile forces in the war-torn nation of Syria.

"The petitioners therefore urge the House of Commons to pressure the government to take all action necessary in providing humanitarian assistance to those in need and to work with other nations to impose a no-fly zone over civilian territory, promoting peace that contributes to the stability of the country."

MP David Morris said: "I am always delighted to help young people who are engaging in our democracy.

"I was pleased to be able to help the students present their petition of over 1,000 names to Number 10 Downing Street to share their views on the Syria Crisis with the Prime Minister".
