History

Aims

KS3

To learn about Britain and the wider world by exploring ways in which the past has shaped identities, cultures and values today. To inspire an enjoyment of enquiry and for pupils to develop a historical perspective and a contextual framework to make sense of the past.

KS4

Lessons are interactive and pupils will practise the skills of reading, listening, writing and debate throughout the course. We will practise a range of examination style questions and skills to ensure pupils are well prepared for the GCSE examinations at the end of Year 11

KS5

To develop an appreciation of British, European and world history. Students will read and research in more depth and engage in more sophisticated debate and discussion than at GCSE. They will acquire the skills to develop their own line of inquiry and to examine the credibility of historical views as well as sources. They will develop the skills of synthesis, critical analysis and logic in order to confidently organise information and make reasoned judgements.
